Toyota was established in  the year 1937 by Kiichiro Toyota as spinoff from Toyota Industries. The company’s first car, Toyota AA was launched before the spinoff. It is second largest manufacturer of automobiles and seventh largest company in the world. The company has production units in around 28 countries

Toyota established itself in India as Toyota Kirloskar Motors in the year 1997 as a joint venture between The Kirloskar Group which is India’s largest Engineering and Construction conglomerate. The company Toyota Kirloskar Group is located in Bangalore. The company invested huge capital to establish the second manufacturing unit in Bangalore.

The company launched Qualis as the first car in the Indian market followed by Camry a mid-sized car which was also sold internationally. The company also launched Corolla, a subcompact car which was first rolled out in the year 1966. Toyota also launched a Multi-purpose Vehicle named Innova is launched in India which competes with models like TATA Sumo Grande, TATA Aria, etc. Innova is less expensive than other multi-purpose vehicles in the Indian market. The Toyota Fortuner is another Sports Utility Vehicle launched by Toyota. This model is based on its earlier launch Toyota Hilux.
